CID files charge sheet against Nithyananda, four associates

Nov. 29: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has chargesheeted Nithyananda Swami for rape, unnatural sex, criminal intimidation and conspiracy. The 430-page-long chargesheet, which was filed on November 27 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ramanagara, has charged the self-styled godman Nithyananda Swami, alias Raja Shekaran, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for rape (376), unnatural sex (377), cheating (417); criminal intimidation (506) and criminal conspiracy (120) (B) along with four of his disciples —Nithya Bhaktananda, alias Gopala Sri Seelam Reddy, for harbouring an offender (212) and criminal conspiracy (120) (B); Nithya Sachidananda, alias Shiva Vallabhaneni: for destroying evidence (201) and criminal conspiracy; Nithya Sadananda, alias Dhana Shekaran, for destroying evidence and criminal conspiracy, Maa Sachidananda, alias Ragini,: for assisting the accused in committing rape and unnatural sex.

“The CID submitted the chargesheet before the CJM, Ramanagara, against the five accused in the two cases registered in March by the Bidadi police station based on the complaints of Karupan Lenin and T.M. Vishwanath. The cases were subsequently handed over to the CID for investigation,” said the deputy inspector general of police (CID) K.S.R. Charan Reddy. The superintendent of police (CID) K.N. Yogappa, who is the investigating officer in this case, has so far examined 101 witnesses in India and abroad and collected more than 60 documents. According to the CID, during the course of the investigation, a victim deposed before the CID and stated that she was “repeatedly raped by Nithyananda not only at his ashram in Bidadi but in other parts of the country. The accused allegedly deceived the victim that if she subjected herself to his sexual demands she would achieve enlightenment and that sex with swamiji is the path to moksha,” states the chargesheet.

Her statement is part of the voluminous chargesheet, which also states that Mr Yogappa has seized a number of (non disclosure) agreements signed between the devotees and the ashram authorities taking consent of the devotees for taking part in Tantrik sex. Many more agreements were destroyed a few days before the case came to light, said Mr Reddy.

Nithyananda’s disciple remanded in four days police custody

A local court on Friday remanded Nitya Sachitananda, an associate of self-styled godman Nithyananda, in police custody till November 20.

Sachidananda, arrested by the CID here on Wednesday on charges of destroying an agreement signed by Nityananda’s followers and for criminal conspiracy, was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Ramanagaram, Roopa, who remanded him in four days police custody.

Meanwhile, Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam, the spiritual organisation founded by Nityananda, has expressed “deep shock” and “anguish” at the arrest.

On November 16, Nithya Sachitananda was summoned for interrogation. He was charged under section 201 of the IPC (destruction of evidence) and was taken into custody.

Sachitananda was one of the co-accused named in the complaint lodged by a former disciple, Lenin Karuppan against Nithyananda, facing criminal charges including rape, in March this year.

The agreement, allegedly destroyed by Satchidananda, is said to mention the possibility of disciples being exposed to nudity. It reportedly came to light after Nithyananda’s arrest.

Nityananda landed in controversy in March after a local television channel aired a purported video footage showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress.

He was subsequently arrested in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh on April 21 and granted conditional bail on June 11.

Nithyananda's disciple remanded in four days police custody

Bangalore, Nov 17, (PTI):

Nithyananda Dhyanapeetham international operations chief Nithya Sachidananda Swami was on Wednesday remanded in judicial custody till November 19.

The CID sleuths produced him before the judge Roopa at her residence on Wednesday afternoon. The sleuths charged him under 201 of the IPC (Destruction of evidence) and arrested on Tuesday evening.

Srinithya Bhaktananda Swami of Dhyanapeetham accused the police of having taken him into custody without warning. He alleged he was not granted bail though the charge 201 is bailable, he told reporters at the Ashram. Bhaktananda Swami said: “The entire FIR against Nithyananda is heading for a quash in all likelihood by this month end as the CID sleuths have not found any evidence against him.”

He claimed a force is working to defame Nithyananda and his ashram as he achieved so much in his early thirties which no other swamiji achieved in Karnataka. However, he refused to disclose name of the force.

Swami aide lashes out at CID sleuths

Bengaluru, Nov. 17:

A day after the arrest of an FIR-accused and close aide of controversial godman Nithyananda Swami — Nithya Sachitananda Swami — another senior ashramite at the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam — Nithya Bhaktananda Swami lashed out at the Criminal Investigation Department for arresting an “ailing” and “innocent” spiritual person.

“We are shocked that the police took this drastic step in the absence of any fresh evidence against Sachitananda Swami and without proper notice,” said Bhaktananda while addressing the media at the ashram in Kengeri on Tuesday. “The CID summoned Sachitananda for questioning on Tuesday, and he willingly complied despite his poor health. Within 10 minutes of being questioned, they arrested him on charges of destroying the evidence — the non disclosure agreements — which are nothing but standard forms used in the US for protecting the intellectual property. They are not illegal documents,” said the senior ashramite.

When asked who signed these documents and for which intellectual property right, Bhaktananda said there was enough material already available on this on YouTube.
He charged the CID with resorting to their “usual pattern of producing ‘victims’ and ‘evidence” on the eve of the SLP for “cheap media publicity” and “diverting the attention from the main case,” said Bhaktananda. The FIR against Nithyananda is likely to be quashed by this month end as the CID has not found any evidence against him, he said. “We hope justice will prevail,” Bhaktananda said.

Nithyananda aide arrested

Bangalore, Nov 16, DHNS

In a blow to Nithyananda, the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday arrested Shiva Vallabhaneni, alias Sachitananda, a senior devotee of the man who is enmeshed in a sex scandal, on charges of criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.

Sachitananda
Sachitananda is the third person to be arrested in the case involving Nithyananda who was nabbed by the CID in Solon district of Himachal Pradesh in April this year after he fled following the television expose that showed him in a compromising position with Tamil actress Ranjitha. At that time, another senior Nithyananda devotee Gopal Shilum, alias Bhaktananda, who is a Green Card holder, was also arrested along with $3,000 in cash. They were later released on bail, but their passports were impounded.

CID sources said Sachitananda, who was arrested from Nithayanda’s Bidadi ashram near here, was allegedly involved in destroying evidence related to the non-disclosure agreement that Nithyananda had his devotees sign on to participate in tantric sex and view pornographic material. Investigations against Sachitananda revealed that he deleted or wiped out copies of the non-disclosure agreement from the hard disks of computers and/or laptops at the Bidadi ashram at least a week before the scandal broke on March 2 this year.

It was Sachitananda, originally from Hyderababd, who interacted with the media after the scandal was exposed and had said that Nithyananda had gone to attend the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar.

The police are trying to find out whether Sachitananda is a US citizen and his passport details are being examined. He will be produced in the court of the Ramanagara magistrate on Wednesday.

Nithyananda case adjourned to Nov 29

Bangalore, November 8:

The Karnataka High Court today adjourned till November 29 the hearing of a criminal petition filed by self-styled godman Nityananda, praying for quashing of two FIRs -- including rape -- filed against him.

When the matter came up before Justice Hulwadi G Ramesh, the CID sought more time stating that the investigation is incomplete and mentioned that they are yet to record the statements of two witnesses who are in USA. Justice Ramesh asked the CID that why can’t that be done over the phone?

Counsel for the petitioner, K V Dhananjaya, in his submission, said the FIR has detrimental consequences on the petitioner as his passport has been seized. “He has to receive his doctorate from a foreign university, but he is unable to leave the country,” he said.

Contending that the FIRs are illegal, he sought to dispose the matter. It could be recalled that on October 20, Justice Arali Nagaraj, who was hearing the case, posted it for final hearing on November 8. However, he had recused from hearing the matter.

Nityananda landed in a controversy in March after a television channel aired a purported video footage showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress. He was later arrested on April 21 and was granted conditional bail on June 11.

Wishing you all a Happy Diwali

The word "Diwali"is derived from the Sanskrit word "Deepavali", which is composed of two words - Deepa meaning Light and Avali meaning a Row. It means a row of lights and indeed illumination forms its main attraction. Diwali leads us into Truth and Light and is celebrated on Amavasya.

Diwali is one of the most popular festivals of India and of Hindus. Diwali celebrations one of the most eagerly awaited festivals in the Indian subcontinent. It is colloquially known as the "festival of lights", for the common practice is to light small diyas (oil lamps) and place them around the home, in courtyards, verandahs, and gardens, as well as on roof-tops and outer walls.

To Hindus, darkness represents ignorance, and light is a metaphor for knowledge. Therefore, lighting a lamp symbolizes the destruction, through knowledge, of all negative forces- wickedness, violence, lust, anger, envy, greed, bigotry, fear, injustice, oppression and suffering, etc.

The celebration of the festival is invariably accompanied by the exchange of sweets and the explosion of fireworks.

On this Diwali day, we wish knowledge of truth will remove the ignorance of those who are still trapped by the dangerous cult!!
