Dec.13: The high court on Monday suggested to the counsel for tainted godman Nithyananda Swami that he file a fresh petition instead of seeking permission to file an amended petition in connection with the chargesheet filed against the Swami in a lower court in Ramanagara.
The counsel had filed an Interlocutory Application (IA) seeking permission to make certain suitable amendments following the chargesheet filed in the Ramanagara court. Justice C.R. Kumaraswamy, who heard the plea, suggested that in the interests of the petitioner, it would be better to file a fresh petition. The counsel replied that he seek his clients’ view on the suggestion and inform the court.
Meanwhile during the arguments on Monday, the court asked the counsel for the swami to argue the case based on the chargesheet. The counsel however refused saying the name of the victim in the case had not been made available to the accused. He said he would like to address this issue in an IA. The court then adjourned the matter to Wednesday.
