The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department
has filed a petition in the Principal Sub-Court here on Thursday,
seeking the removal of Arunagirinatha Gurugnanasambanda Desikar, the
senior head of Madurai Adheenam, for alleged violations of Tamil Nadu
Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act.
In a
petition filed on behalf of the HR and CE Commissioner, P. Dhanapal, it
was stated that the math head had violated several provisions of the Act
by forming a trust and selling lands without prior permission or
sanction from the government.
Arunagirinathar, the
292{+n}{+d}head of the math, had formed the Madurai Adheenam Trust, with
Nithyananda, who was appointed by him as the 293{+r}{+d}head, and got
it registered on April 23, 2012.
The Act provided for
the appointment of one person as trustee (head) of the math to
administer, manage, control and supervise its affairs. The appointment
of Nithyananda and formation of the trust were in violation of the Act.
The objective of the formation was to take away the properties of the math under one guise or the other, the petition said.
It
also pointed out that procedures were not followed in the nomination of
Nithyananda, who was not a disciple of the math. Serious objections
were also raised by the public over the appointment. The senior head had
sold properties in 1995 and 1999 without prior permission and sanction
of the HR and CE Department for paltry sums. The petition also referred
to audit objections to spending for purposes unconnected with math
activities. All these violations called for his removal. The Principal
Sub-Judge, K. Guruvaiah, posted the case for final hearing on Friday.
The Advocate-General, Navaneethakrishnan, appeared for the government.

மதுரை ஆதீனத்தின் இளைய மடாதிபதியாக நித்தியானந்தா நியமனம் செய்யப்பட்டதை எதிர்த்து தொடரப்பட்ட இந்த வழக்கு நேற்று முன் தினம் விசாரணைக்கு வந்த போது, நித்தியானந்தாவின் நியமனம் சட்ட விரோதமானது என்று தமிழக அரசு சார்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
